Amitayus is the Buddha of long life, merit and wisdom. Through the empowerment of Buddha Amitayus we receive special blessings that increase our lifespan, good fortune and wisdom. We all need a long life - if we lose this life we lose our precious opportunity to attain enlightenment. But a long life is meaningless if we waste it. Through increasing our merit and wisdom, we can understand the rarity and preciousness of our life, and resolve to use it in the most meaningful and beneficial way possible - to follow the spiritual path to enlightenment for the sake of ourselves and others.
